About
My name is Helen and I have been an Occupational Therapist for the past 9 years.
I graduated in 2013 with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. I started my career in stroke and neurological rehabilitation working in London. I love neurological rehabilitation and I believe it gave me great competence and confidence as an Occupational Therapist in such a specialist field. I always knew I wanted to work with children so when a job came up close to my home in Ireland, I jumped at the chance.
I have been working in Paediatrics for the past 7 years. I work with a range of difficulties such as global developmental delay, intellectual disabilities, down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, developmental coordination delay, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, sensory processing difficulties and much much more.
I love early intervention and this is where I specialise. I especially love working with the 0-6 age group. I have seen the effects that early intervention can have on a child's development, and I have a passion to teach parents about the benefits of early intervention from the moment the baby is born. Most parents don't realise this, but they have started early intervention from the moment the baby is placed on their chest after birth! It is never too late for a child to learn, however the earlier we work on skills the easier it is for the child and family.
I am a CORU registered Occupational Therapist and I am also a member of the Association of Occupational Therapy Ireland (AOTI). I have completed a range of continued professional development courses throughout my career to ensure I can offer families the most up to date assessments and interventions. My continued professional development courses include:
