Praxis is the ability to learn and preform a novel activity. Praxis consists of three elements - children (and adults) can have difficulty in any one of these areas ... Or all three!
1).Ideation which leads to initiation 2).Motor plan 3). Execution Praxis is learned through exposure and development. Remember, everything is novel to the newborn baby so give them time. Children with praxis issues can have difficulty learning to roll, learning to crawl, learning to use their imagination in play, learning to tie their shoe laces, button their shirt, sequence their washing routine, follow complex instructions, organise their books at school, learn to write etc. If you feel your child is having difficulty with any or all of the areas of praxis, then a Paediatric Occupational Therapist can help. #praxis #sensoryintegration #babymassageireland #childdevelopment #infantdevelopment #infantmassage #bonding #play #parentning #parentinggroups
